No. 1 AIRPORT LOUNGES

We were approached with a brief for an airport lounge that hadn’t been built. No1 airport lounges was going to go against all of the stigmas of traditional exclusive lounges. It was going to be unaffiliated with any airline and only £30 for admission. And we needed to develop a brand which would help set it apart and go against the grain of all that an airport experience had to offer.

Our brief was to create a full brand look and feel from scratch. When we begun this project there was only one lounge in the UK, at Gatwick Airport. They are now at all major UK airports as well as Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney with more plans to expand.

IDEA 1 ‘THE CHAIR"‘ - THE CONTENDER
I’ve left this in as it was a strong contender with plenty of merit. This idea played into slowing things down. This was a real experience, unlike anything else the we’re all used to when racing to catch a plane, eating an overpriced sandwich and a warm beer. The symbol we hit upon was this chair. Familiar, comfortable and waiting just for you. We wanted to build an iconic symbol which would become the familiar rest stop at any airport across the globe.

THE WINNER - IT’S ALL ABOUT THE LOCATION.
This idea we landed on focused on the importance of each location. Each lounge would be completely unique. This would not be a copy paste brand like so many airport brands. Each of these location held something special, something that only that address had. A place where you could pause. Where a person can forget about what they have to do and just be. And this is how we brought it to life.

It all started with a simple pin marking an important place. We took this and deconstructed it.

And then with each location would create its own unique geometric circular pattern

And created a comprehensive set of Guidelines
